August 01 st, 2019.

The Teachers' Task Force advocates for the right of all learnersrich or poor, young or adult, male or female, rural or urban, whatever their specific learning needs - to have access to well prepared, justly remunerated, duly respected and highly committed teachers. The Task Force works in collaboration with the network of the Global Campaign for Education (GCE), Education International (EI) and other partners to achieve the above goal and participates in Global Action Week and in World teachers' dayThe Task Force also promotes the ILO/UNESCO Recommendations on the Teaching Profession in its network and member countries.

Here are some key advocacy messages of the Task Force:

- Education is a fundamental human right and public good. Qualified, motivated and empowered teachers play a central role in providing this education.

- Every learner has the right to be taught by a trained and qualified teacher.

- Teachers are one of the most influential and powerful forces for equity, access, and quality in education and key to sustainable global development.

- The prominence of teachers in the SDG4-Education 2030 framework reinforces the need for sound knowledge and data about the situation of teachers.

- Monitoring of the status of teachers and teaching is fundamental if we are to achieve SDG4 target 4.c as well as the other SDG4 targets.
